If confessing the full divinity of Jesus, or God who is simultaneously three Persons in one, strikes you as quite an intellectual stretch, know that you are in excellent company!
After all, it is one thing to regard Jesus as a great religious teacher, a political leader or perhaps even some sort of (human) messianic figure. It is quite another to worship him as (a) deity. Yet this is what the devotedly monotheistic early church does and insists upon as the church expands.
In this episode, Mike Regele offers an exceptional explanation of the development of early church’s
christology (understanding of the identity of Jesus) – a process that culminated finally in the year 325 CE with in the formal doctrine of the Trinity and the adoption of the Nicene Creed (325 CE) as the test of Christian orthodoxy.
