We are born to grow. And for the first season of our life, growth is nearly inevitable. Newborns will grow into toddler, toddlers grow into children, children to teens… And all along the way, maturity increases as biology does its work (albeit with helpful or harmful inputs).
But when we reach “adulthood,” strength, health…maturity…, becomes a choice. Growth becomes a matter of effort and dedication, strength a product of exercise.
In this new year’s episode, our pal, Ian Farrell reflects on his life an endurance athlete and what it has taught him about the spiritual life and the work of spiritual formation. In short: there is no substitute for having good form and putting in the miles (while also enjoying the journey!).
